So it turns out that I was able to find a lot more information about normal churches, than new churches. This blog is, for better or worse, turning more into a general information guide for churches in general as opposed to only new churches. If anyone knows of a great site that has useful information about new churches, please let me know.

The statistic of the day is the average size of a church in the United States. According to a USCLS, 186 is the magic number. Meaning that the average church has 186 members that attend regularly. Interestingly enough the median was only 75 regular participants. Meaning that half of the churches in the U.S. have less than 75 regular participants and half have more. Does this surprise you? The church I attend usually has around 200 members a week so this seems about in line with what I’ve been reading on the Internet.
